Leading a small group is a terrific investment! God will use you and the people in the group to touch the in-process people God loves! We encourage you to reach out to people at KCC who have indicated interest in the group and to invite people from your neighborhood. Thank you for leading a small group at KCC.

Small Group Purpose:
To grow healthy spiritual lives by building a healthy small group community

Small Group Training
Sometimes leading a small group can get sticky. People don't see eye to eye, various points of view and even outright conflict between people or even within a person can surface! When you see sticky situations coming, help is available. There are excellent online training materials and articles covering a wide range of situations:

Pastor Jeannette is also available to talk through questions, concerns (and celebrations) your group has. Don't hesitate to reach out!

As a small group leader we encourage you to kick off your group by sharing:

The Strategic Plan for Kent Covenant
- The mission, purpose and initiatives set our priorities on areas of focus and guiding principals that determine programming and time investments. Please print & distribute!
God uses small groups to bring grace and transformation
- Check Out: Ephesians 4:16 | I Peter 4:10 | John 17:20-21).
The groups goal is spiritual growth that is encouraged as we offer each other:
- Grace - as we understand that God is for us and our group
- Truth - as we see it in God's Word and in each other
- Time - it takes time to develop our friendships with one another and it takes time for us to become more like Jesus.

Heathly Relationship 101: groups habits and behaviors:
- Care - Care for the people in your group. Reach out & invite them into your life, pray for one another.
- Safety - Foster an environment of confidentiality where people can share what's really up in their lives.
- Authenticity - Be real & relax in God's goodness. The goal is not to "fix" each other, but to be prayerful, encouraging one another and directing people to God's solutions that are in the scriptures.
- Growth - Celebrate the victories, answered prayer requests and the step by step growth that happens in relationships with one another and God over time.
- Help Others
  - Encourage and demonstrate helping one another in the group. From remembering to call after a prayer item such as a doctor's appointment to informal hanging out as families.
  - Help people outside your group: The church is the only living organism that purpose exists for those who are not yet a part of it. Sign up as a small group for a Crosswalk event together, pick another community service event (let the staff know so they can pray & celebrate with you!) and "be" Christ to our community - in Kent, Wa, Pacific Northwest or a global missions project.
Connectiveness: If at first you don't succeed, try again!
- Groups are living organisms. Let your group attendee's know that if the group doesn't quite feel right for them after a session or two, they get a total supported pass to try out another group! Let them know that finding the right group doesn't always happen right away -- the group won't be offended if they want to check out another group. Encourage them that finding a small group where they find synergy is super important and won't hurt the groups feelings if they'd like to check out another group. As the leader take the time 1:1 to see how people feel about fitting into the group & if there are any reservation, find out what they are looking for (e.g. more discussion about parenting with small children), contact Pastor Jeannette and help them find a group that is a better fit for them. At KCC it is a priority to help people find a place to belong.
